FaceTheTrade — Privacy Policy

FaceTheTrade ("the App") is developed by Cup of Coffee Software ("we," "us"). The App is a behavioral journaling tool for traders that records short videos of you during trades, transcribes what you say, and provides AI-generated coaching feedback after the trade is over.

We designed FaceTheTrade around one principle: your recordings never leave your phone. This policy explains exactly what stays on your device, what doesn't, who any transmitted data goes to, and why.

The short version

• We operate no servers and have no account system. We cannot see your videos, hear your audio, read your transcripts, or identify you.
• Your video and audio recordings are captured, processed, and stored entirely on your device, and recordings are automatically deleted after 7 days.
• The AI coach is optional. If you use it, the text transcript of what you said, your prompt answers and named patterns, and aggregate heart-rate statistics (averages and peaks only) are sent to Google — specifically Google's Gemini API, a third-party AI service operated by Google LLC — to generate your report. Nothing else is ever transmitted, and you are asked to accept this in the App before it can happen.
• We show no ads, use no cross-app trackers, and sell no data. The one other exception to our otherwise server-free design: unless you opt out, the App sends anonymous, content-free usage signals (for example, that a coaching review happened and roughly how long it lasted) to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics provider. These signals contain nothing about your videos, audio, transcripts, trades, or health, and cannot identify you. You can turn them off during setup or anytime in Settings.

What the App processes on your device only

The following never leaves your phone (or your watch):

• Video and audio recordings of your trading sessions. Captured with your permission, stored in the App's private storage, automatically deleted after 7 days. Transcription happens on-device using Apple's speech frameworks.
• Raw heart-rate data from your Apple Watch (with your HealthKit permission), used to place markers on your session timeline. Raw sensor readings are stored only on your device.
• Your name, your coach's name, transcripts, grades, notes, and patterns — stored locally in the App's database.
• Face ID / passcode (if you enable App Lock) — handled entirely by Apple's LocalAuthentication system; we never see biometric data.

If you delete a trade, its data is removed from your device. If you delete the App, everything is removed.

What is transmitted, to whom, and how

AI coaching reports (optional feature). When you choose to generate a coaching report or ask the App to suggest patterns, the App collects the relevant text from your on-device session data and transmits the following over an encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connection to Google LLC, using Google's Gemini API (the third-party AI service that produces the coaching text):

• the plain-text transcript of your spoken commentary,
• your prompt answers and your named patterns, and
• aggregate heart-rate statistics for the session (low / average / peak beats per minute — never raw sensor data, and never your health records).

How it is collected: this text is derived on your device from your own recordings and inputs, and is sent only at the moment you tap to run an AI review or pattern suggestion. All uses: the data is used solely to generate your requested coaching report or pattern suggestions and is returned to your device; it is not used for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose. We attach no name, email, or identifier to these requests.

Third-party protection: we access Gemini under a paid commercial API plan whose terms prohibit Google from using your prompts or data to train its models. Google processes the data as our service provider to return the report and applies protections consistent with those described in this policy. Google's handling of data submitted to its API is also governed by the Google Privacy Policy and the Gemini API Additional Terms of Service.

You are informed of, and must accept, this data sharing (with Google named) via the disclaimer presented when you first set up the App, before any coaching request is possible. You can decline the AI features entirely and keep everything on-device.

Anonymous usage stats (on by default; you can opt out). To understand whether core features work, the App sends anonymized, content-free usage signals to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics provider that anonymizes by design (no IDFA, no personal identifiers, EU-hosted). Example: a coaching review occurred and a coarse bucket of how long it lasted. These signals never include your video, audio, transcripts, trades, prompt answers, heart-rate, notes, or reflections, and cannot be tied to your identity. You control this with the "Share anonymous usage stats" toggle in onboarding and in Settings — turn it off and nothing is sent.

Purchases. Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment details and cannot identify purchasers.

That is the complete list. The App makes no other network connections.

HealthKit

With your permission, the App reads heart rate and heart-rate variability from Apple Watch during a recording, and uses a workout session on the Watch solely to keep the heart-rate sensor active while you trade (no workout is saved to your Health history). HealthKit data is used only for the features described above. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing, and we never sell it or share it with data brokers — the only sharing is the aggregate statistics (low/average/peak BPM) sent to Google's Gemini API described in the AI section, and only when you use the AI coaching feature.

What we don't do

• No crash-reporting SDKs
• Only one analytics tool (TelemetryDeck), sending anonymous, content-free usage signals you can switch off — never anything that identifies you or reveals your content
• No advertising, ad identifiers, or cross-app tracking of any kind
• No selling, renting, or sharing of personal information (the AI transcript sharing described above is processing by our service provider to deliver a feature you request, not a sale)
• No accounts, and therefore no profiles of you

Children

FaceTheTrade is a financial-behavior tool intended for adults and is not directed at children under 17.

Your choices and rights

Because your data lives only on your device, you are in direct control: revoke camera, microphone, speech, or Health permissions at any time in iOS Settings; turn off "Share anonymous usage stats" to stop all analytics; skip the AI features to keep everything 100% on-device; delete individual trades or the whole App to erase data. If privacy law in your region (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) grants you rights to access or delete personal data, those rights are satisfied by the same controls — we hold nothing about you on any server.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the App handles data, we will update this page and the effective date, and material changes will be re-presented in the App for acknowledgment.
